Launch of the strategic plan for Waste Management in Fayha’a : reduce waste, air and water pollution, and develop a circular economy. In order to limit the waste and not to throw it randomly outside the waste containers, iron cages have been installed on the containers in most streets of Tripoli.
The project of composting organic waste in cooperation with the world food program to turn it into productive resources, stressed that the compost plant represents an environmental and development project that transforms organic waste from a burden to a productive resource, contributes to reducing pollution, improving public health and supporting the agricultural sector.
The municipality of Tripoli in Lebanon is witnessing the activation of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, especially in the field of solar energy, through initiatives for solar street lighting in cooperation with local associations, the installation of solar systems in public facilities such as the municipal building and gardens to secure electricity around the clock, in addition to training cadres in this field.
Training and qualification of cadres: free training courses in cooperation with partners such as LCEC (Lebanese Center for energy conservation) and Liban Cables and IECD to train young people on the installation of solar energy systems. Partnerships for the development of the sector: a memorandum of understanding between the municipality of Tripoli and the Lebanese Center for energy conservation to develop renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
Urban agriculture is active in Tripoli municipality through initiatives to support food security and improve the environment, where urban farmers ‘markets were opened in cooperation with local and international partners to support farmers, and the municipality focuses on integrating agriculture as a “way of life” to improve the urban appearance and increase local production, with training programs for citizens and the development of green spaces، Developing the capacities of youth and women in the city of Tripoli in the field of urban agriculture three main axes: developing the skills of women and youth on the topics and techniques of urban agriculture through partnership, establishing an urban farm in the region for trainees to apply their knowledge with the support of the food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and UN-Habitat and providing clean water and renewable energy for public facilities such as schools and health dispensary. It also aims to raise community awareness regarding improving food security, hygiene and sanitation within the community and at home in the area.
Implementation of the Tripoli El fayha’a nursery according to the latest standards: the greenery production in it increasing the number of green spaces in the city, strengthening the attractiveness for tourists and visitors, and offer the inhabitants recreational spaces to exercise, meet, and socialize. It will support the Green Vision 2030 of the municipality of Tripoli. Moreover, the plantation around the city.
